I stepped outside early this morning to see the sun just peeping onto my backyard. The birds were quite noisy, I think I spotted flashes of blue zipping up into the trees and thought perhaps the indigo buntings have returned. They appeared for the first time last spring looking for goodies in the grass. I startled a green heron near the pond and the cardinals were scolding me for interrupting their morning snack at the feeders. It was so lovely that I had to find my camera and this is the photo that I snapped. Nice as the photo is, it was 100% prettier standing there in person.
California poppies in the foreground, the pink are evening primrose that always pop up after the weather starts to warm.
