Hand Pieced Glitter Quilt

First new project of the year and having a great time hand stitching these blocks together. It’s a pattern that I saw last year on Pinterest called Glitter by Jen Kingwell and you can find it in the book Quilt Lovely. I fell in love with these vintage style quilts by Jen Kingwell and I knew my collection of fabric would work very well with this style.

The block finishes to about 9″ x 3 1/2″ inches and as you can see I’m stitching it the English Paper Piecing way.

Jen Kingwell is known for mixing different styles of modern, vintage and bold fabric collections, but my fabric stash is limited to a certain color palette which I think compliments this pattern nicely. I chose to make this particular quilt without any greens, just for something different. But as I add photos to this post I can see lots of yellows grouped together. I’ll have to spread the colors out better as I go. The background pieces are various white on white prints that I’ve been collecting.

Following my theme of beloved little creatures, with and without whiskers, many of my favorites are going into this lap sized quilt.

A Ring of Coffins Mini Quilt

So excited to have finished these really fun and adorable mini quilts featuring Ghastlies and Jack Skellington fabrics.

IMG_1721IMG_1701I used the awesome “A Ring of Coffins” paper piecing pattern by MiniASD on Etsy and added the faces from a template that I created.

After hand stitching the coffins together I hand stitched the faces using an invisible stitch. I thought about machine appliquéing them to the coffins, but I enjoy watching tv and hand stitching a lot of my crafty things.

I love these modern Halloween colors by Cotton and Steel, and I added some jewel tones from Allison Glass

I appliquéd bats and a floral motif in the corners and center from a piece of Angela’s Attic and machine quilted around the coffins. Added a spider charm and pockets in the back for hanging, then finished the two minis with hand stitched black binding.
