I love making these little kitty ornaments. The costume possibilities are endless and this month I’ve made a cupid for Valentine’s Day. This little guy is about 5 1/2 inches tall and hand stitched with adorable crafted wings that I designed especially for my felt creations. The kitty also has a quiver holding arrows and a little heart. I hope to adapt this pattern for angels at the end of the year.
Hand Pieced Glitter Quilt
First new project of the year and having a great time hand stitching these blocks together. It’s a pattern that I saw last year on Pinterest called Glitter by Jen Kingwell and you can find it in the book Quilt Lovely. I fell in love with these vintage style quilts by Jen Kingwell and I knew my collection of fabric would work very well with this style.
The block finishes to about 9″ x 3 1/2″ inches and as you can see I’m stitching it the English Paper Piecing way.
Jen Kingwell is known for mixing different styles of modern, vintage and bold fabric collections, but my fabric stash is limited to a certain color palette which I think compliments this pattern nicely. I chose to make this particular quilt without any greens, just for something different. But as I add photos to this post I can see lots of yellows grouped together. I’ll have to spread the colors out better as I go. The background pieces are various white on white prints that I’ve been collecting.
Following my theme of beloved little creatures, with and without whiskers, many of my favorites are going into this lap sized quilt.
